+ Read Scripture

Luke 24

27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

44 Then he said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47 and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

Talk Sheet Questions

  1. Where did Jesus begin His explanation to the disciples on the road to Emmaus? What did He show them about “all the Scriptures”?

  2. According to Luke 24:45-47, what two specific things “had to” happen to Christ? What message was to be proclaimed “to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem”?

  3. Why do you think Jesus started “with Moses and all the Prophets” (Luke 24:27) rather than jumping straight to His resurrection?

  4. When Jesus helped His friends understand the Bible, their hearts felt warm (see Luke 24:32). How does the Bible make your heart feel when you read it?

  5. If Jesus showed that “all the Scriptures” are ultimately about Him (Luke 24:27, 44), how should this change the way you read the Old Testament?

  6. Where do you need Jesus to “open your mind” right now to better understand His Word and His work in your life (Luke 24:45)?
