1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Revelation

11 "Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created."

  1. How does Genesis 1:1 begin the story told in the Bible?

  2. God made the whole world—the heavens and the earth. What’s your favorite thing God made that you can see outside?

  3. Read Revelation 4:11. What does it say about why God made everything?

  4. What does it mean that “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”? What was there before the heavens and the earth? Why is it significant that God creates from nothing?

  5. Taken together, how do these verses bookend the Bible’s story—from creation’s beginning to its ultimate purpose? What is creation for?

  6. How could Gen 1:1-2 and Revelation 4:11 inform the way you interact with creation?
