Lunch with Students
Starting the week with Prayer and Evangelism!
Monday, after a briefing from Barakeel, the leader of the Student Fellowship, we went to HKUST to prayer walk and try to evangelize over lunch. This is the University of Science and Technology, and we saw signs of it all around the campus. The banners around the school interestingly advertise that “Miracles happen here.” The miracles they refer to are the advances in science and technology that were developed at the school. The miracles that we are seeing are God touching hearts and minds with his love. Pray for the students as they head into finals. Being part of an honor/shame culture, some of them lose all hope, and the school blocks off a balcony with spectacular views because of past incidents where a student has chosen to jump.
Tuesday, we did the same things at HKBU, a campus about 30 minutes from the Pylates. We loved seeing the vestiges of this university’s connection to the church. We even used the fact that there are some Bible verses on the walls as a starting point in our conversations with students. There was a completely different atmosphere at this campus. The students were more relaxed. We issued invitations to events this week to several students, and we’re waiting and praying that they bear fruit. We were pleasantly surprised that, while we were at this school, they were hosting a fair to help students better understand their peers with disabilities. We all did a few of the activities and received a slice of cake for our efforts. Some of these students showed sincere interest in the gospel. Please pray that God would continue to work in their lives through the faithful service of our friends in Hong Kong who love and serve him.
