Psalm 117

1 Praise the LORD, all nations!

Extol him, all peoples!

2 For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever.

Praise the LORD!

Talk Sheet Questions

  1. There seems to be tension between Israel and the nations. They are to be separate (Leviticus 18:4), and the nations are to praise Israel’s God (v.1). Does the church have a tension like that? Explain.

  2. Can you identify other places in the Bible where God seems concerned for “the nations?” On a scale of 1-10, how important do you think missions should be in the life of the church?

  3. What does steadfast love (hesed) look like in real life? How have you experienced God’s faithful, covenant love in your own life?

  4. Psalm 117 is the shortest and very middle chapter in the Bible (594 chapters on each side, if you must know). Is this significant, or just trivia?

  5. How does the phrase "his faithfulness endures forever" encourage you? When do you need to remind yourself of this the most?

Prayer

Pray for faith to trust God’s steadfast love and faithfulness!

Please note: West Linn Life Groups will discuss Psalm 118 for the week of 6/29-7/3.
