1. Money, generosity, and financial integrity matter to Jesus.

  2. The budget is a promise. How we handle our money is a key factor in whether people trust the church. They are trusting it won’t sit, not being used, or used frivolously. Part of trust is not losing the money, but part of it is spending it on what we promise.

  3. We have a congregational vote on our budget because it is an all-church commitment to the financial goals. A vote is not separate from participation in giving to the budget.

  4. A budget is a ministry plan for the year. A budget without a ministry plan to use it is a wish, not a budget.

  5. Underspending a budget is not a virtue, unless we shut down spending in a crisis. It represents ministry that is not being done.

  6. Overspending a budget may be a vice. The ministry is spending money that the congregation did not approve.

  7. Stewardship and accountability are the heart of our financial operations at New Life Church. Each person who gives and each ministry leader who budgets plays an active role in the building of the kingdom.

  8. We aim to steward our resources as an act of worship to King Jesus.
