Worship Leaders Needed

On July 13, New Life Church will worship in small groups in backyards throughout our cities. In past years, preachers have collaborated to prepare and deliver live sermons for these backyard gatherings, but we distributed a video of one of our worship leaders to be displayed on a screen.

This year, we are committing to live preaching and live worship at each gathering. This may feel like an uncomfortable stretch, but New Life Church has an ongoing need for additional worship leaders and we want this week to equip many vocalists and/or instrumentalists to help the church sing.

The purpose of corporate worship is not to enjoy a spectacular musical performance but to actively participate as we “address one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, making melody to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:19)

The only leadership requirement for these gatherings is that the worship leader knows the songs and can indicate when the congregation should start and stop singing. The songs for this gathering will be well-known and have already been chosen. Leaders will be given lyrics, chord charts, and song recordings to get intimately acquainted with these songs and will be invited to a joint rehearsal with all other backyard worship leaders on the evening of July 10.

Life Groups will be the primary organizers of these gatherings, so please speak to your Life Group Leader, and/or indicate your willingness to help on the Connection Card, and/or contact Taylor Reavely.
