WHAT IS A LIFE GROUP?
It is a gathering of missionaries/disciples.
It is the primary setting for discipleship.
It is where New Life Church disciples engage in the practice of life, applying the Word as they pray for and love one another while they engage their neighbors (future disciples).
5 PRACTICES OF A LIFE GROUP
Exampled in Acts 2:42-47
We love the Bible. It is the primary way the Holy Spirit teaches us truth and we want to dig in deeper every week. We do this by reengaging with the text from Sunday, asking questions, and striving to apply what we learn as disciples and missionaries.
A key part of what it means to be a disciple is that we engage neighbors and make more disciples. A life group supports attempts, and failed attempts, at being a missionary. It is also a group of people that can be physical help for your neighbors when a need arises.
Friends who share life share food. When a life group gets together they gather around a table. This does the amazing thing of creating a place where people share their stories, their highs, and their lows.
This is the “living life together” piece. The weekly gathering is a place where we each learn the needs of others. We then love each other throughout the week as we practice the “one anothers” of Scripture and use our talents and resources for the good of others.
God invites his disciples to talk to him so a life group does that for each other during the meeting and throughout the week.
