Brie and her new friend from Texas, Allie, clearing the land

Brianne is home!  She and her team worked hard to clear three acres of jungle in Belize which will be home to a Bible school opening in September.  The team also dug a well and completed a boardwalk.

Brianne learned many valuable lessons, including the importance of being flexible as a missionary, and she drew closer to God.  She saw Him working in the lives of her team mates as well as in her own life.  Brianne also experienced in a very personal way the love and support of her church family.  Thank you!

We are doing well here in wet, hot Belize. The team is doing very well on the projects that they are working on.  Currently we are working on three different projects:
  1. Clearing the land for the BMW.  This is quite a difficult task since it involves slashing the undergrowth and burning dead trees.  They have made good progress, and we can even start to see where the buildings will be able to be built.

  2. We have been digging a well on the lagoon property.  It is troublesome to have to drive down the road everyday to get water, so we decided to dig our own.  Currently we have dug it approximately 12 feet deep, and we are getting a good steady supply of water.  Today we have started laying the block inside the well.  We expect to be done with the block by tomorrow afternoon.  We have already built the lid, and will install it in a few days.

  3. We have also been building a walkway out into the lagoon, for a future kitchen.  We have made great progress on this.  Today we completed setting all of the posts, and started nailing on the planks for the walk itself.  The kids are having a little difficulty getting the nails to go into the hardwood posts, so we are predrilling them.  That should take care of the nail bending problem. It will however slow down the process considerably.

Last Sunday afternoon we were able to come into town after the roads dried out and were able to do a presentation in the town square.  The team really enjoyed the time and opportunity to share their faith.  Clayton was able to lead someone to the Lord.  We praise God for the fruit. We are scheduled to do another presentation at a church this Sunday morning. The team is also looking forward to that.

It continues to rain often-usually every other day.  It is making life sticky and wet, but we are making do.  We praise the Lord for the "Big Top" that keeps most of it off of our heads, and provides an opportunity to have shade when the sun does come out.

The new Belize base was able to purchase two puppies for future security, (Rottweilers).  The team is really enjoying them.  All of the team members say to say "HI!" to their families, and they appreciate the mail they are getting.

This picture was taken shortly after the Team arrived at The Lord's Boot Camp in Merritt Island, Florida on June 22nd. (Brianne is on the far right)

(Judy Cochran:  As for an update, this is the word I got from Brianne when she called from the airport upon her arrive in Orlando on June 21st:)

Brianne's plane left at 6:35 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21st.  Before checking in, a girl stopped her to ask if she was headed to Teen Missions since that girl was going there, too, but on a different airline.  Weeks before Brianne left I prayed that God would place her in just the right seat on that plane, especially since the flight was over 7 hours long.  It turned out the she was seated next to two other kids headed for the Lord's Boot Camp!  They are on the Cameroon team.  Brie also said that one of her favorite teachers from school was on her flight.  The Lord was so good to answer our prayers!

Brianne arrived safely in Orlando, as did her box of clothing and essentials.  She had no trouble finding the TMI leaders.  Brianne did ask for prayer concerning her headaches, since she had a bad one on the flight.  It was really good to hear her voice.  Besides any letters we might receive, we won't hear from her again until she is at the airport preparing to leave the US for Belize on July 10th.
